Privacy Policy
Effective October 20, 2026
Short version: Word and Verse does not collect your personal information. Your notes, highlights, bookmarks and prayers belong to you. The app has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
What stays on your device and in your iCloud
Everything you create in the app (highlights, underlines, margin notes and drawings, ribbon bookmarks, reading plan progress, prayer notebook entries and your display settings) is saved on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, it is also synced through your own private iCloud account so it appears on your other devices. This data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account and Apple's privacy policy. The developer of Word and Verse cannot see or access it.
Bible text
The King James Version is included in the app. When you open an ESV or NIV passage, the app requests that passage from the translation's provider: Crossway's ESV API for the ESV, and API.Bible (a service of the American Bible Society) for the NIV. Like any website or service, these providers receive the request and your device's network address. The app does not send them anything about you, your notes or your account. Passages you have read are kept on your device so you can read them offline.
Face ID
If you turn on the optional lock for your prayer notebook, Face ID or Touch ID is handled entirely by your device. The app never receives your face or fingerprint data.
Read aloud
The read-aloud feature uses voices built into your device. No audio or text is sent anywhere.
Children
Word and Verse does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes its data from your device. To remove synced data from iCloud, go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage on your iPhone or iPad and delete the Word and Verse data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
